The backstory.
Chelsea’s first feature-length film, the multi-award winning music documentary Bleeding Audio screened at nearly 20 film festivals worldwide including Slamdance. Bleeding Audio secured distribution and released in May 2022 to critical acclaim. Chelsea has also directed several scripted short films that have screened at festivals worldwide. Her most recent narrative short film, Out for Delivery (2025) premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival & screened at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, as well as 30 other festivals. She also directed the unscripted comedy series Nobody Asked (2024) for Dropout.tv. Chelsea recently participated in the Film Independent Episodic Directing Intensive as one of six fellows in the program.
Originally from a horse ranch in Colorado, Chelsea moved to San Francisco for film school in 2007. After graduating with a BFA in Directing from the Academy of Art, she worked as a producer/director and editor for corporate and commercial production agencies in the Bay Area. Chelsea has traveled the world, producing and directing brand documentaries and commercials for companies like Google, Adobe, and Dolby. These productions have taken her all across the US and abroad to Japan, Europe, Australia, and rural India.
Serving as both a programmer or juror at a variety of film festivals including Slamdance, Dances With Films, San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, & Cinequest, Chelsea has a strong passion for the community of independent cinema and supporting fellow up and coming filmmakers. She currently lives in Los Angeles, though her heart will always be in San Francisco.
